Lodz, evening, passengers are rushing to catch the long distance train that will take them to the sea. One of them, middle-aged man, seems to be very nervous, he does not have his ticket with him, but he seems to be very keen to get on board. He pays again for the ticket and convinces the conductress to let him have the whole section to himself, even though the train is overcrowded. She is surprised, but her attention is distracted by another passenger, a young woman, who has a ticket that was assigned for male passenger. She says she bought it from some man, but she acts suspiciously and the conductress is determined not to let her travel on board. The man asks that woman is let to stay in the section he paid for, just to stop this ridiculous situation. The train leaves Lodz, but the tense atmosphere is still present - the man is nervous, woman is quiet and mysterious, but the gossip among the passengers is more disturbing - all the evening newspapers from Lodz have the same headlines: the manhunt for a man who murdered his wife is in full swing. The passengers begin to wonder if there could be a killer among them.
