Night Train to Paris 1964 train movie

Running time: 65 minutes

Language: English

On the New Year’s Eve, former OSS officer Alan Holiday, now in the travel business, spends most of his time explaining to clients that there is no way he could get them tickets on the flights to Paris. Every single aeroplane is fully booked and there is nothing he can do about it. The visit of a beautiful woman to his office is a nice change... until she asks for a help to get to Paris quickly and discretely. Alan explains to her that it is simply impossible, but then she mentions his friend, Jules Lemoine, who is behind that request. Alan knew Jules from his time in the OSS, so, of course, will try to find a way to help him. Holiday uses his influences to find a way to transport them both to Paris under the pretence that they are part of a fashion photographer crew travelling on the night train to Paris. Louis will be the assistant of that photographer, while Catherine will be one of the models on the way to a photoshoot. Once everything is arranged with the photographer, Louis Vernay, Jules reveals to Alan that he has to travel discreetly because he is in a possession of a tape that could cause governments to collapse. Soon, Vernay is found dead, and the killer is after Jules to get the tape.

British spy movie surrounding a mysterious that that is so valuable that people are ready to kill for it. While the idea was not that bad, the production was on the rather typical level for short mystery movies in the 1960s Great Britain, the weakest part of the whole production was the script. The whole story makes very little sense, nothing is actually explained, some parts of the movie seem like it was supposed to be a comedy, but also failed at that. The cast was decent (including Leslie Nielsen early in his career), but not much more can be said about the rest of this production.
